Birmingham LGBT’s SHOUT Festival of Queer Arts & Culture is set to mark the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.

Next month back for its eighth year, SHOUT launches on Thursday 9 November and comprises 10 days of queer live performance, theatre, visual arts, comedy, music and film, presented at venues across the city. This year’s festival will focus on exploring and celebrating the changing histories of LGBTQ people in Birmingham and across the UK over the last 50 years.

One of the highlights of the event is RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon & Major Scales with The Vaudevillians - a vintage cabaret with a twist of drag.

Adam Carver, SHOUT Festival Producer, commented: “We’re proud to bring this programme of internationally renowned artists to Birmingham. There are several new commissions in amongst some of the best in theatre, performance, visual art and film, celebrating queer identities, exploring our heritage and directly responding to the world in which we find ourselves today. There’s loads to do and plenty of ways to get involved, both in the run-up to and during the festival.”
