A lesbian couple were refused entry to Worcester taxi and have said that the experience has "denied us our dignity".

The Worcester News reported that the couple were walking holding hands and tried to get into a taxi after a night out in the city.

However, they were left shocked after the driver told them to try another vehicle, and proceeded to take another customer behind them instead.

Council bosses have classed the incident as a hate crime and are working to track down the driver, who could be banned as a result.
