Wolverhampton based LGBT radio station Gorgeous FM will be launching across Birmingham on DAB next month.

The station was created by gay nightclub owners Shaun Keasey and Ricki Wellman as a 'not-for-profit' entity with the aim of giving local LGBT people the chance to experience the world of radio and get ‘on air’.

Shaun commented: “It is fantastic news that we have been granted a license by OFCOM to broadcast across Birmingham and we look forward to giving the LGBT community, and indeed anyone living in the second city, an amazing new station to listen to.

“We hope to partner with LGBT groups across Birmingham, Wolverhampton and The Black Country to provide information about all the great things happening in our region.

“We’re also, of course, looking for more volunteers who want to get on air. This is an amazing opportunity to talk to and communicate with thousands and thousands of local people.

“All ideas are welcome; from talk shows to meeting local people to music genres. I am just waiting for one of our local drag superstars to host a weekly ‘Agony Aunt’ show! Outrageous!

“There is a serious side too of course in that many LGBT people feel alone with nobody to talk to. We want Gorgeous FM to be there for them and to break down any remaining barriers and misconceptions about being ‘gay!’

“Our studios are based in Wolverhampton and shows can be live or ‘pre-recorded’ for those with busy schedules!"

Gorgeous FM launches across Birmingham on DAB in August and online throughout Wolverhampton and The Black Country. For more information or to get involved with Gorgeous FM visit, or email
